Bread from
a port town.

A small bakery café a short walk from Busan Station, past Chinatown and up a flight of flower-tiled stairs — carrying the flavors of Portugal and Brazil through Erika's translations, Chef Carmen's baking, and Sum's illustrations behind the counter — pastéis de nata, mazagran, and slow mornings.

The story of Oporto

Oporto is a small harbor carrying the flavors and culture of Portugal and Brazil. Porto means "harbor" in Portuguese — it's also the name of one of Portugal's most iconic port cities. Even the Korean word for bread, ppang, traces back to the Portuguese pão.

We bake our bread fresh each day using a persimmon-based natural starter, made from fruit grown by our family in Sancheong, Jirisan, along with traditional sea salt carried over from the Algarve, Portugal.

Oporto was founded by Erika, a Portuguese translator, and Chef Carmen, who brings authentic local flavors to the kitchen. Sum — an illustrator and barista — joined later, completing what Oporto is today. It began with memories of Brazil and Portugal, and the flavors and feelings gathered while living in those places — which we hope to share with you in this small space.

A cozinha é pequena, mas cheia de amor.
Our kitchen may be small, but it's filled with love. Welcome to Oporto.
